Parkgate Community Centre opened in the Fall of 1999, and is a place where the community is involved in all aspects of its operations. Community Governance
The Centre is fortunate to have a committed Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers; Contact Us who work hard to make Parkgate a great place for the community to visit and use its services and programs.
Right from the beginning the community worked together to define the parameters of the building's design, what recreation programs and community services, would need to be included, and what partnerships needed to be established to ensure that the Centre offered social, health and recreational services unde one roof.
Extensive community involvement, Board of Directors and Volunteers, ensure that the community continues to be actively involved in determining what services, programs and events are provided. At Parkgate, we are constantly reviewing and evaluating the services we provide. This enables us to respond immediately to community issues and participate directly in community development.
The SPIRIT of Parkgate is created around a distinct 'intergenerational philosophy' which has been mandated by the community from its inception. This commitment of all ages experiencing life together is what continues to make Parkgate a lively and innovative Centre. The Centre prides itself on providing an environment that makes people feel welcome and at home in their own centre.
