Dare2Dream - Youth Leadership Camps
A Sea Kayaking & Leadership Camp for Youth 15-18 yrs. Proudly presented by Parkgate Community Services and the Dan Culver Follow Your Dream Foundation. Step out of the ordinary this summer! How does six days kayaking around a beautiful island, camping out under the stars, hanging out with cool kids, and exploring your potential in the great outdoors sound?
Sea Kayaking - Learn how to kayak and paddle on the wild side! Our expert guides will teach you the basics of paddling and kayak safety, and then it's time to explore!
Explore - Learn about being a leader, controlling what happens in your life, and how to make a difference. While you explore the islands you explore what it means to be a leader!
Fun! The program consists of camping, kayaking, hiking, swimming and provides a great opportunity for youth to socialize and have fun!
The Dare2Dream program is based on the 640-acre Jedediah Island and on the surrounding islets and islands that make up B.C.'s newest marine park.
Who is Dan Culver?
The Dan Culver Follow Your Dreams Foundation was created to keep the vision of Dan Culver alive. Dan was a remarkable man who in addition to many other achievements, summitted Everest and K2 the first and second highest peaks on the planet. Dan died descending from the peak of K2 in 1993. Dare2Dream is based on Jedediah Island, which was dedicated in the memory of Dan in 1995.
Who can do this?
This is not a program that requires you to be a super athlete, or incredibly courageous. All that we ask is that you are reasonably fit know how to swim, and have a desire to make your life the best that it can be. And you want to have fun!
