Try a "GETTING STARTED" Consultation
Develop a plan to meet your health and fitness needs. You will be taken through a workout and be oriented to the strength and cardiovascular machines in our weight room. Consultations may include specific goal setting, weight management techniques and other conditioning techniques. This session is intended for healthy populations.
For individuals with health-specific needs, such as post-injury rehab, post-cardiac rehab, pre/post natal training and training for other chronic or degenerative conditions, please contact the Weight Room Supervisor at your facility prior to booking your consultation so that we can meet your needs appropriately.
Members - $9.40;
Non-members - $31.35

Orientations
Need a basic orientation to the weight room and its equipment? Learn to setup the cardiovascular and strength equipment. Book a free (free with membership or $5.45 for non-members) 1/2 hour orientation with one of our Health & Lifestyle Consulstants. Please call the front desk at 604-983-6350.

Personal Training
Achieve your personal health and fitness goals with a program tailored for you! If you require specialized training or simply have difficulty staying motivated, then personal training is for you. These personalized custom sessions include goal-setting, program design, instruction and the motivation to keep you on track. Your program may also include fitness testing, active rehabilitation, or sport-specific conditioning by our highly qualified and trained staff - See Staff Profiles

Friends & Families-in-Training (F.I.T.)
Get in shape with a friend, or two or three...or consider training with a spouse or family member. A fun way to combine exercise and social time and group support can be a great motivational tool to help you achieve your goals. Choose between semi-private or small group training. You choose the time, the facility, the number of sessions to train for and the friends to train with and we provide the trainer!

Cancellation Policy
24 hours notice is required for rescheduling or cancelling of any H&L Services. A refund will not be available when less than 24 hours notice is provided, and will result in a loss of your session.

Fitness Testing
Establishing the baseline of your current fitness level and capacity for improving this level is crucial for those wishing to set measurable and realistic goals under a set timeline. Our facilities are now equipped to provide you with beginner to advanced level testing as related to general health and/or sport-specific goals. Complete testing and program design with a Certified Fitness Appraiser. Re-testing is recommended at regular intervals to track your progress and re-align your fitness goals.

Dexa Scan Interpretation
DXA(dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) can estimate 3 body compartments consisting of fat mass, lean body mass and bone density mass. It is the new reference standard in body composition and is the "gold-standard" in bone density testing. Scans are performed by trained technicians at LGH.

Strong Bones - An Osteoporosis Prevention Program
Did you know that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 8 men suffer from osteoporosis? Studies now show that a progressive weight training program incorporating high load with low repetitions can be recommended as an effective approach for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in both men and women. PHASE IV--Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
Parkgate launched their newest addition to Cardiac Rehab Programs on the North Shore on March 3, 2003. Our aim is to help clients return to a healthy, normal lifestyle through safe exercise and lifestyle counseling. Our goal is to restore each participant to optimal capacity following a cardiac event, and also to modify risk factors and lifestyle in order to decrease the progression of the disease and chances of a secondary event.
All clients are required to obtain clearance from their physician if they have not recently participated in an exercise program. Doctor's Referral Forms are available from any NVRC front desk or from LGH. Staff includes certified fitness instructors, Kinesiologists and Exercise Specialists.
